Cybercrime has increase the number of known crimes, not only in Nigeria, but globally, such that companies, individuals both low and high have been affected negatively. Perpetration of this financial crime cut across nations as syndicate members. A report (sponsored by McAfee) published in 2014, estimated that the annual damage to the global economy was $445 Billion. Approximately $1.5billion was lost in 2012 to unlined credit and debit card fraud in the USA. In 2018, a study by the centre for strategic and international studies (CSIS) in partnership with McAfee, concludes that close to $600 Billion neatly one percent of global GDP is lost to Cybercrime each year (Wikipedia). Some criminal of this crime go undetected, while few arrested are dealt with. Mitigating Measures Against Cybercrime

Mitigating measures include, but not limited to the following:

  • Avoid disclosure of financial transactions to unauthorized persons.
  • Avoid disclosure of your bank account details to unauthorized persons.
  • Temptation of greed, and get of quick syndrome should be discouraged.
  • Parents should monitor the lifestyle of their children, particularly financial recklessness.
  • Landlords should endeavour to check background of tenants.
  • Members of the public should endeavour to provide useful information on questionable characters living around them to the law enforcement agents.
  • Public awareness programmes should be encouraged.
  • Government should endeavour to provide adequate logistic support to law enforcement agents i.e Tracking machine.
  • Above all, banks should intensify efforts to reports questionable account owners to the appropriate authorities for immediate action

Cybercrime, like other crimes ravaging our society requires collective effort of Government, Non-Government organizations and individuals. This can be achieved via adequate logistic supports to security agencies of timely provision of information in the members of the public.

Three most valuable ingredients for success.

Three most valuable ingredients for success.

If you desire success, this is a must read!

Faith and Passion are prerequisites for success. These two initiate and fuel your courage, which consequently drive your actions.

How courageous  and fearless you are depend on how passionate and faithful you are. ~Rukayyah Rahman

Once you believe in what you see (faith), the divine energy (passion) needed to work for it is automatically activated. Subsequently you feel the strong readiness to act and do whatever it takes to achieve the dream/goal. Once you think it and strongly believe it, you have created it, it is already existing, all you need do is to work, take right actions to move it from the abstract form of existence and then manifest it so you start living the dreams and benefitting the world with it.

You don’t need to know all the directions at once, as you proceed, the path becomes clearer and gradually the awareness is continually unfolded, for you to know what to do next and of course to know what not to do.

All directions and actions needed to manifest  that beautiful dream/vision of yours are guided by your passion, courage and faith. If you truly desire success, these three ingredients must exist.

Thank you for reading but we will appreciate you more if you always apply the knowledge you gain from our blog. It will illuminate you beyond imagination.

Always stay conscious and happy!

Every Nigerian is to be blamed for the economic upheavals of the country

Every Nigerian is to be blamed for the economic upheavals of the country

It is undeniable that the economy of Nigeria is being sabotaged and crushed by the corrupt people, the supposed leaders so to say.

Yet our own attitudes contribute more to the turbulence faced by the country economically. When we mention Nigeria, its not just about the geographical entity, it is absolutely about the lives existing in the geographical entity, specially the “thinking beings” there.

Let’s go straight to the point. Many of us do not purchase a product, if we find our country name written on it, such as “made in Nigeria.” That’s unfair, humiliating and catastrophic. We don’t even know that these attitudes and the likes are the obstacles impeding the great nation especially in terms of her economy.

We need to regulate the cash flow by patronizing the businesses in our country, that’s the biggest investment, if only we know. Let’s cite an example, you go to a Nigerian hospital for your surgery, get products made in Nigeria etc.

These are ways to generate income into the country. Some people might think, if we generate income, the government and people in positions will be the ones to consume it all. You may be right, but think of it this way, it could also create a reality, in which there is enough for everyone.

Buying items made in Nigeria from retailers will compel the retailers to get more of such items from wholesalers, consequently the wholesalers will continue to demand more from the producers. In that manner, our market is being expanded, transaction is going on, cash is flowing in and out within the country. The companies are delighted and continue to make all efforts to gratify the consumers.

The workers are getting good pay, they are able to pay children’s school fees, teachers are enjoying the boons and boom as well because the school management are able to promptly pay up their salaries, people are able to generate capital to start businesses from their income too, there is more to buy, there is more to sell, there is enough income for everyone to buy, prices of things go high or low, everyone is already getting enough to use to purchase.

We should note that every sector will definitely walk along the progressive triumphs with the business/economic sectors. Therefore civil servants won’t be left out, their salaries will stop ceasing. Inevitably the standards of living continue to increase for Nigerians, if not all, a significant number of them(Nigerians).

When 70% of the people are financially buoyant, the 30% will easily be catered for. Rukayyah Rahman.

We cannot escape the consequences of our decisions and actions. Therefore we need to play our own part and see what comes out of it, we need to stop investing in other countries so much that we continue to push our dear country into economic pitfalls. Major problem in Nigeria is that Nigerians often act without considering the proportional consequence of such actions.  If you don’t spend your money to purchase more in the country, then be ready to suffer from the crimes and other inconveniences associated with poverty and unemployment rates.

All these things are connected, they are! Companies won’t hire if they make less sales, people won’t strive to start a business or invest in a business expansion if they know they won’t be patronized. Fake products will continue to be on the rise because everyone is struggling to make a living and no buyers to buy their quality products created out of sweat, energy and huge sum of money.

Working together, we will continue to lay the foundation for a new generation of inclusive economic growth, expand economic opportunity for middle-class families, and ensure that innovative businesses have the support they need to thrive and grow in the years to come. _Maggie Hassan

We can mitigate all of these problems including the greatest of all these problems which is poverty, we can stabilize the economy, a notable number of us can enjoy good standard of living and beyond if we put a stop to such ignorant acts, “I cannot buy the sugar that has the label of made in Nigeria,” “The local rice is delicious but I cannot buy it because it is from our people in Nigeria.” Lets stop being enemies to our own country, to our own progress. Let’s motivate the companies and industries here to be better, lets support them. Let us be the change we hope to observe in other people.

Nobody is perfect, more so platforms now exist for us to lay our complaints to producers as a way to point out their flaws, which will then lead to their improvement.

Virtually, low patronage that is, lack of (enough) demands which is synonymous to the merchant (or business owner) making less sales is an impetus for their manipulations, like producing inferior goods, just to maximize profits.

Our support which exists in our commitment to purchase from them encourages them to offer better products and services. They will be motivated to be at their best for their loyal customers.

It is not a must to yield to this. But we need to understand that until we invest in our own country before we enjoy the luxury too, before we enjoy growth in our other endeavors too, before we enjoy peaceful and blissful Nigeria. Only a fool will say Nigeria cannot be better. No problem exists without its solution. The Almighty One is so kind to us, He makes all problems co-exist with their solutions. All we need do is discover, realize and act accordingly. What we give, we take. Life operates on cause and effect principle. Nigeria is no exception, therefore we must refine our attitudes towards the products/services made/rendered by our own people in Nigeria.

If not, we are not helping the situation, and that gives us very little right (if there is any at all) to nag about the economic and security situation of the country, and as a result we continue to regress.

We really need to be sensitized over this and let us all see our faults, accept them and make sincere efforts to ameliorate the situation.

Entrepreneurs should patronize entrepreneurs within the country, civil servants should patronize stores within the country, politicians should patronize hospitals within the country and so on. We must unite to rise!

Developed countries are ahead of us despite our amazing resources because of this. They use their own products and services, they also compel people from other countries to come for their people’s products and services. We keep sinking because of our selfish and ignorant attitudes.

No one is saying you should get no foreign product, of course you can because we don’t have everything here but learn to buy more from within the country, encourage businesses here too, help them make more sales to rise up to international standard for our own good. The benefits for doing this cannot be numbered. Invest more in Nigeria, your patronage within the country is a great investment.

We fill your minds with great contents. Don’t miss it!

Here is

Feels great to graduate, how about the courage to radiate and stand out in the labour market?

If none is ready to employ you, cmon! Employ yourself and others.

Wisdom and Opportunity for Nigerian Graduates to Radiate as expected…

After graduating, I was fortunate to get a job in an hospital earning 320,000 a month, at first I felt on top of the world because I thought this was much money but after working for over 8 months and I had no significant achievement not even a notable impact in my community, I made a hard decision to resign.

Take a decision to think like you have no degree, actually forget that you have a bachelor’s degree in any discipline. That’s where your story of entrepreneurship and success will start.

Things have changed so we must change too, Universities in the 70s used to produce 1000 graduates each year and they would get jobs even before finishing, but now each year we graduate more than 80,000 students from over 30 universities and 100 institutes yet there is limited organizations not to mention job vacancies.

Most of the Educated people in Africa are poor not because they are dense but the way they see things just doesn’t apply to the real world anymore.

The biggest excuse for getting paid such low amounts of money and having to sit and work for another person for 30 days is “THE DEGREE”
This has made most of the degree holders very poor and will die that way most likely.

▪A degree holder does not know how to generate money even from the simplest thing unless that money is generated for the employer. He is so dependent on the salary that he can do anything to get a job but will not think of starting a business or investment of his own to employ others not even operate a chapati Business where he can make 30k a day.

▪A degree holder is not prepared to start a company and grow it in 2 to 3 years but will spend 4 years searching for a job and work for 30years pushing another person’s dream

▪A degree holder is so eager to get out of this country and work in another country than spend time to develop his own country by creating solutions and innovations.

▪A degree holder will blame the government for lack of jobs even when he was on government bursary for him to have his degree.

Here is the life changing question…Why are so many degree holders poor?

Because they have decided to pride themselves in a degree and failed to think better than a man who does not have even a certificate to his name. No wonder many of the world changers (posed as the most successful people) today are “degreeless” but of course they are enlightened  and learned individuals, just not in a conventional and boring way.

Note! I  am not against education, not at all. I am educated and will definitely further my education in every sense of what education means. All I am saying is, we need to be resourceful and put our knowledge to fruitful use, in order to benefit us and our community. Schools exist to only polish our potentials which must be exploited productively to solve problems around us, thereby create opportunities for ourselves and others. Your learning back at school should yield earning for you after school. Graduates are meant to radiate, not just to wait.

If you want to progress, throw away the thoughts of having a degree and start thinking better than someone with or without a degree. Have an open mind and start anything that will address a problem and can make you money.

Be prepared to work extra hard – work like an ox for YOUR business. Learn to be a creator of opportunities rather than a seeker of opportunities. Always remember this:

If you strive, you will surely thrive. ~Rukayyah Rahman

Nigeria has over a million unemployed people, don’t seek a job for just yourself, seek jobs for many others by creating an opportunity that will solve problems and open positions to hire some or many others. Together we can create a socio-economic inclusive society.

Now if you have taken a bold step to create an opportunity for yourself by starting up a business, trust me you need online presence to accelerate your sales, you may be concerned on how to convince people of your credible products and services. The Basics of Branding

The Basics of Branding

Branding is one of the most important aspects of any business, large or small, retail or B2B. An effective brand strategy gives you a major edge in increasingly competitive markets. But what exactly does “branding” mean? How does it affect a small business like yours?

Simply put, your brand is your promise to your customer. It tells them what they can expect from your products and services, and it differentiates your offering from your competitors’. Your brand is derived from who you are, who you want to be and who people perceive you to be.

Are you the innovative maverick in your industry? Or the experienced, reliable one? Is your product the high-cost, high-quality option, or the low-cost, high-value option? You can’t be both, and you can’t be all things to all people. Who you are should be based to some extent on who your target customers want and need you to be.

The foundation of your brand is your logo. Your website, packaging and promotional materials–all of which should integrate your logo–communicate your brand.

Brand Strategy & Equity

Your brand strategy is how, what, where, when and to whom you plan on communicating and delivering on your brand messages. Where you advertise is part of your brand strategy. Your distribution channels are also part of your brand strategy. And what you communicate visually and verbally are part of your brand strategy, too.

Consistent, strategic branding leads to a strong brand equity, which means the added value brought to your company’s products or services that allows you to charge more for your brand than what identical, unbranded products command. The most obvious example of this is Coke vs. a generic soda. Because Coca-Cola has built a powerful brand equity, it can charge more for its product–and customers will pay that higher price.

The added value intrinsic to brand equity frequently comes in the form of perceived quality or emotional attachment. For example, Nike associates its products with star athletes, hoping customers will transfer their emotional attachment from the athlete to the product. For Nike, it’s not just the shoe’s features that sell the shoe.

Defining Your Brand

Defining your brand is like a journey of business self-discovery. It can be difficult, time-consuming and uncomfortable. It requires, at the very least, that you answer the questions below:

  • What is your company’s mission?
  • What are the benefits and features of your products or services?
  • What do your customers and prospects already think of your company?
  • What qualities do you want them to associate with your company?

Do your research. Learn the needs, habits and desires of your current and prospective customers. And don’t rely on what you think they think. Know what they think.

Because defining your brand and developing a brand strategy can be complex, consider leveraging the expertise of a nonprofit small-business advisory group or a Small Business Development Center .

Once you’ve defined your brand, how do you get the word out? Here are a few simple, time-tested tips:

  • Get a great logo. Place it everywhere.
  • Write down your brand messaging. What are the key messages you want to communicate about your brand? Every employee should be aware of your brand attributes.
  • Integrate your brand. Branding extends to every aspect of your business–how you answer your phones, what you or your salespeople wear on sales calls, your e-mail signature, everything.
  • Create a “voice” for your company that reflects your brand. This voice should be applied to all written communication and incorporated in the visual imagery of all materials, online and off. Is your brand friendly? Be conversational. Is it ritzy? Be more formal. You get the gist.
  • Develop a tagline. Write a memorable, meaningful and concise statement that captures the essence of your brand.
  • Design templates and create brand standards for your marketing materials. Use the same color scheme, logo placement, look and feel throughout. You don’t need to be fancy, just consistent.
  • Be true to your brand. Customers won’t return to you–or refer you to someone else–if you don’t deliver on your brand promise.
  • Be consistent. I placed this point last only because it involves all of the above and is the most important tip I can give you. If you can’t do this, your attempts at establishing a brand will fail.
